On 22nd June, while you were sleeping (unless you were on the route) myself, 699 men, women, children and one dog did the Midnight Walk for Florence Nightingale Hospice. We warmed up at the college, purchased flashing rabbits’ ears, and set off at midnight. It was a great sight along the Bourg Walk bridge with all the flashing lights from ears etc.! After crossing Walton Street we did a circular walk along Wendover Road, through Bedgrove, back along Tring Road and back to the Waterside theatre to a very welcome ice cream with Jaffa cakes. The five miles ended there. From here we walked past B&Q on Park Street doing another circular walk taking in Elmhurst, Weedon Road, Bicester Road, Rabans Lane, Fairford Leys, back to Bicester Road, Gatehouse and then back to the college. We were very well supported with volunteer marshals all along the route with encouragement and water bottles, tooting cars and a couple of people who had had a good night out.
We arrived back at the college at 3am to a round of applause, a medal and a welcome bacon roll and cup of tea. It was a moving experience and I hopefully will do it again.
I raised £140 thanks to all my very good friends, family, and work colleagues.

On May 18th/19th team Tavistock headed to Cheltenham to share a weekend away. On the Saturday we saw “Oliver!” at the local theatre, and enjoyed an evening meal. On the Sunday a trip to Bourton-on-the-Water led some of us to a maze, and others to the model village. Fun was had by all, and of course we didn’t end the event without our traditional “non-posed” photo.
Can you spot who is who? If not, why not meet the team on our website at https://www.tavistockhouse.co.uk/team/ ?

Kerry (of Tavistock House) kindly invited the team to her wedding reception. On arrival they discovered that Kerry’s sister-in-law Kirsty was not as happy as could be – because her dental bridge had become detached that very morning!
Team Tavistock was on the case. Immediately returning to surgery with Kirsty, the bridge was promptly refitted, before returning to the party.
In the time of a dance or two, the team restored Kirsty’s smile – and everyone lived happily ever after!

Thanks to Jon Ashworth, founder and director of "Yala Fund" (UK-registered charity no. 1111692) that invests in health and education to help poor people in Sri Lanka we are delighted to share some photographs of former Tavistock House Dental Practice equipment in use in Sri Lanka.
“At Tavistock House, we are regularly updating and renewing our dental instruments and equipment and always strive to keep up with the latest equipment and materials. We are very pleased to donate good quality equipment to help provide vital services to those in need,” says Carlton Morris, Principal Dentist at Tavistock House.
Jon Ashworth - one of Tavistock’s clients - used to live in the UK and now lives in Sri Lanka working with a charity that supports local schools and health centres. Since 2014 Tavistock House has been donating equipment which Jon has kindly arranged transport of to Sri Lanka where it is now in use helping to provide local school children essential dental care in areas where such equipment can be difficult to acquire.
